Chevron Corn Hole DIY
So you want to make a chevron corn hole?
My sister hired me on (slave-labor style) to bake in the hot, California sun and paint countless things for my niece's 1st birthday. I was obviously more than happy to acquiesce.
Here's a step-by-step of the creation process. This will probably be helpful to someone who doesn't understand geometry perfectly and had no idea how to lay those damn lines out correctly (and perfectly).
First things first, she order the corn holes (non painted) off of etsy from some guy who makes them..
Cover it with white primer.
Let dry while simultaneously babysitting.
Measure out the points to each of your tips to the chevron pattern.
Directions: Start at the top of the board and measure down, say, 6". Mark. Measure from that point 6". Mark. All the way down the board.
From there, measure the width of the board (I don't remember) and divide that width by 2. Measure across by that number to each of your marked points (basically finding the center of the board and 6" away from each point). You now have the tips to your chevron.
Measure from the tip, say, 14". This is your diagonal of the chevron. Make a dash line from each tip to your 14" mark on the edge. [REPEAT ON BOTH SIDES]
Lay some painters tape from the tip to the mark on the edge.
IMPORTANTÉ: Make sure the parts that are staying your background color (in this case white) get the fatter edge of the tape. E.g. look below and notice how one diagonal is thicker than the other (tape wise) and that's because when you pull the tape of the skinnier white diagonal, it will be the same size! Don't go all the way down doing the exact same tape line.
Use your head and make sure you realize which is being painted (the thicker line) and which isn't (the thinner one) [REPEAT ON BOTH SIDES]
From this point, I suggest making a pencil 'X' or something on the diagonals that you'll be painting that way you don't get confused and screw the whole thing up. That'd suck.
After you've deciphered which ones to paint and which ones to leave unpainted, start filling them in! [REPEAT ON BOTH SIDES]
Let dry.
Play with the baby!
